This project will include sidewalk along John Tyler Highway (400 feet), Ironbound Road (500 feet) and adjacent to Clara Byrd Baker Elementary School in order to provide pedestrian access in line with the Safe Routes To School initiative.
In 2009, the Mooretown Road Extension was incorporated into the adopted James City County Comprehensive Plan after analysis revealed that the road could improve evacuation options during severe weather events and had the potential to alleviate traffic congestion.
