Citizens are now able to request certified copies of certain documents through our new online portal.
Copy requests for an index of marriage licenses, criminal and civil cases, and land records can be found here. Scroll down the list and select the Williamsburg-James City County Circuit Court available link for access to the index. Land Records will require the number of pages, document type and date, and name(s). Call Land Records at 757-564-2349 with questions.
Certified copy requests for Deeds and Civil/Criminal documents can be made here.
Certified copy requests of issued marriage licenses can be made here.
Through our new online portal, citizens also have the option of applying for a Marriage License. Please note that if you apply online for your Marriage License you will still need to visit the Clerk's office to pick up the license, provide proof of age requirement and pay the license fee.
